the effect that Mrs. Kenneth Evans,
who underwent an operation there re
cently is suffering with other com
plications and is not qui to as well as
a few days ago.
E. E. Willard, the stock buyer, ar
rived in La Grande yesterday evening-
and today proceeded to Baker to look
after business prospects in his line.

ficer of the Pythian Sisters order,
was over from Union yesterday to
visit the Pythian Sisters of La
Grande. Mrs. Davis will preside n
the supreme lodge of the sisterhood to
be held in Portland next month.
Dr. Harry M. Bouvey has returned
from Portland where he went to atr
tend a convention of specialists.
Carl E. Evans, Ovorland dealer
here, went to Baker today to fetch
home some automobiles unloaded
there yesterday.
Ernest Welch, a prominent furni
ture dealer of Baker, and his family
passed through La Grande yesterday
in an auto. They will make a stop at
Pendleton and are headed for a trip
through California, intending to make
the tour by easy stages.
