It will be remembered that the Elgin
squad heads the league and has been
hard to beat all along and that the
last time they played here La Grande
had to execute a ninth inning rally of
the most virile sort to take home the
bacon.
Ice Cream Social.
The Lutheran ladies have decided
to meet the weather man half way in
ushering in summer properly. "Old
Sol has a way of making his debut so
suddenly und auspiciously at this
time of the year that it requires coun
ter attractions to keep things cheerful
and agreeable. Tonight, under the
low hanging boughs of a lawn at 806
Main street the ladies will furnish
large dishes of ice cream and home
baked cake together with musical and
other entertainment. Unless the
temperature changes materially this
should prove a popular event. The
public is cordially invited.
