Total Birds Liberated in Oregon in
1915 Is 4029

state .in that period includes: Chinese
pheasants 2914; B b Whites 973;
California Quail 959; Mountain Quail

Forty-eight Bob White Quail wore
liberated in Union county during that
period, compared to 24 in Umatilia
83 in Kalamth; CO in Hood River; 60
in Baker.
Of the Ring-Necked pheasants, Un
ion county got none,. Wallowa 140;
Baker 220; Crook 194. There were
about 25 counties provided with these
birds. California quail distribution m

hill 220.
La Grande people are distinctly
proud of L. Rayburn's performance in
Portland this week when lie won the
Northwest individual chamoionshiD
blue rock contests. He hasn't been
in practice for nearly a year but for
all that Went to Portland and showed
his real calibre by winning over all

Further inventory of bowling rec
ords in the World's Almanac, brought
about by the remarkable scores made
by Ed. Houck of this city the past
two weeks, reveals that the official
record for 75 games was made by
Fred B. Egelhoff on the Palace alleys
in Brooklyn, with an average of
230.29, This was in 1906. Houck's
record, for 100 games, instead of 75,
averages 233.t3, his record) being
2S3.63 pins in 100 games.

In the light of last Sunday's 10-in-ning
game with Imbler, it is to be
supposed that a fine contest will be
seen in Imbler when a return match
is staged. Cove and Elgin's tight
game last week will be gone over
again at Cove next Sunday, and the
Valley league will undoubtedly see
two fast games tomorrow.
John Girdler and Secretary King of
the Y. M. C. A. had an interesting
match at tennis on the La Grande
Tennis club courts a few days ago.
The La Grande champion was bested
in the match by Mr. King.
. A class of women and small boys
are taking on the rudiments of tenmis
on the new Y. M. C. A. courts down
town. Especially among the boys is
some fine talent developing under the
direction of Secretary King, but the
women too are getting the tenmis
fever. Several women of mature
years who never before thought of

It seems likely there is not much
new under the sun in the way of au
tomobiles. One of the most unique
models came into Leighton's garage
yesterday all the , way from South
Bend, Indiana, en route to Spokane.
It has a chasis, of course, but the
body part was simply a platform.

tank and tool receptacle in the rear
