It is one of the most laughable and, at the same time, most thrilling stories in which the celebrated star has ever appeared. James Kirkwood produced this rare I combination of laughs and thrills for I the Famous Players, with Kathcrine I'hc Losl Harris, Ida Darling, June Dale, Ilardio Kukland, bdwaru Sturgis and several other well-known players in support of liarrymore. SHEKRY'S LAST DAY. I'arnuin Scores Personal Triumph by Playing Two Dissimilar Parts. One of the most skillful hits of act ing ever seen in photoplay is done by William Farnum. who plays two sep arate parts in "The Bondman," a Wil liam Fox production of llall Caine's celebrated novei. Mr. Farnum, who. ft iilk&iLSl mi mmm 1 1 . while on the legitimate stage, ap peared for live solid years in "lien Hii!-," plays the parts of Stephen Orry and Jason Orry, father and son. The types are radically dissimilar. Stephen Orry is a hu,?e, heavy-limbed giant; a vagabond, indifferent upon liirn. Jason, the son, who vows to kill his dissolute father, is a vigorous, clean cut type. In the development of the action there is a lapse of sev erul years and Stephen becomes an old man. t In one of the scenes Jason rescues Stephen during a shipwreck and swims ashore with him. In view of the fact that Mr. Farnum plays both pr.rts, the scene constitutes one of the most remarkable photo giaphic achievements since the ad vent of photoplay. j ' i i I Vapor Takes Place Of Drinks U Lf mm HAPPINESS is havin' jest a little less than we -yant, an'.th' health t' hustle f'r that "little less". Out mOkla homa, where prohibitioin adds 'Co the natural aridity of the climate, the thirsty find solace in "gasolene jags," ncccuding to W. M. Dougherty, an oil man from the fields of that State, who is visiting Pittsburgh' friends. "Gasolene gives a very satisfactory jag, i understand," Mr. Daugherty remarked during a recent conversation willi friends in the Northsiile Police Station. They don't drink it, you know, They inhale the vapor. "The effect is about the same as Unit of whiskey. A habit is acquired if its use is kept up very long and persons who have inhaled very much of it get to be just like dope fiends. It finally results in death, the blood ap parently breaking down. "Two boys started the use of gas olene as a substitute for booze around Sapulpa, where 1 have been," said Mr. j Dougherty. "One of them died in con I vidsions and the other became very sick after a few weeks, but by that time several other young follows had started to inhale it too. Generally they go on their first jag just out of cur iosity and then keep it up just because they like it. "Casng head gas is the most ef fective because is evaporates so read ily. They put a pint or so in a bucket, hold their heads over it and in a few minutes they are happy. Cheap an I effective they say.'"
