Such a Store is a Public Utility As reliable when you want to buy a suit of rlothes as when you need a paper of pins. , IT IS DESERVEDLY WINNING THE CONTI- PENCE OF LA GRANDE PEOPLE AND THAT STORE IS Hill's .Department; Store life raft. In "Tee Price of Malice" there is a a strong- supporting cast which includes William Qavidson, who played the lead in "A Yellow Streak." "Her Debt of Honor" and other recent Metro i J ft'onderplays; Helen Dunbar, whose ' a characterizations of grand dame roles have won her an unique pl:e on the screen; Frank Glendon, a young leading man; William Calhoun, Hugh Jeffrey, William Heck and other well kno-R-n players. I Sick 'Em -Let 'Em Fight We are selling lots of Flour, espeetially Snowdrop NOTES FROM FILMDOM AT THE MOVIES It finally ends with the gradual blending: --of 't?ie'tw' personalities into one, and Fairbanks acquires some of the good qualities of each with none of their drawbacks.1 1 iff m.im.iy t4' I v 1 1. bCfcNE FROM "THE PRICE OF MALICE' AT ARCADE. Worrie of Fairbanks in "Double Trouble." Douclas Fairbunks get into all kinds of trouble in "Double Trouble," Triangle comedy which will amuse patrons of the Arcade theater Sunday. But all the t-.oubles of Fairbanks wit: . only add to t'h enjoyment and inter est of the play. Fairbanks is a jrood young banker who is principally in demand by the old ladies of his church to fill the presidency of the Sibbath Day society. Then he goes away for a vacation. Fairbanks is struck on the head by a holdup man, and then his amusing adventures begin. Wakinjr up in a xtranfre place, he forjfets everything of his former life and begins a new ca- rjcr as Mr. Brassfield. He strikes oil and wins a fortune. This leads to his frominence in politics, and he becomes eading candidate for mayor. He bo, comes engaged to a beautiful yount; woman (Marjorie Wilson) and is also paying some attention to a girl knowu as Strawberry (Clayds BrockweM.) Theri is a strong scene where Fair banks is seen groveling on the floor of a Pullman, having suddenly re covered his personality as Mo. mn Amidon after five years of iifi? as B:nssnul. He meets a friend, Judge Blodgett, and they make their way to a clairvoyant, Who changes Amidon buck to lii-ussftuld. Fairbanks is tranced back to the gcntlo Amidon, and so he remains un til he shows his inefficiency as a busi ness man. Then the medium makes him aggressive Brossfield. :"A Janitor's Wife's Temptation" : Rapid Farce. . Fied Mace has ample opportunity for comic facial and bodily activity in ."A Janitor's Wife's Temptation," ih? Triangle comedy to be produced at the j Arcade theater Sunday. Just as Fred , Mace is prepa:ing to dine on a piece of steak in his basiment home his 'wife (Martha Golden) makes him go ;out in the hall and dust some rug;s. i She sends the meat up to Gribbon, a i hungry artist on an upper floor, who i has got a whiff of the cooking meal jand sent down a hurry call to the jan itor's wife. j A party of models come into the hull and start talking to Mace. Mar ' :a Goldert b.eaks up this pleasant s?s 1 sion by her sudden appearance, but her anger is nothing compared to hi j when 'r.e discovers the piece de resist ance of his meal has disappeared. I Next Gribbon flees with the jani i tor's wife, who takes a roll of bill; i'from the landlord's safe. Mac is arrested on suspicion, but is released. Mace finds Gribbon with his wife in a fashionable cafe and pursues him to the roof, where Mace is thrown I through a dome and alights in a foun tain. t j AT SHERRY'S Tomorrow Only. ' Hamilton Revolle, the foremost , romantic and dramatic star of the stage or screen, will be seen here at the Sherry theatre tomorrow only hi "The Price of Malice," a five pari Metro production. Barbara Tennar.t, the charminc- and talented young ac I tress, will be featured in this notable photoplay, which is replete with big scenes produced upon an elaborate scale. Several of these scenes in clude the wrecking and sinking of a large yacht, in the ice floes of Labra dor. Most of the players are taken off in life boats, but the two prin cipals, Mr. Revellc and Miss Tennant, are tossed around in the ice floes until The Movie slogan Don't knock-Boost. Molly Make Believe starring Mar guerite Clark, is one of the sweetest Mories erer screened for Miss Ciark. Charlie Chaplin was out of his element playing in Carmen. . Let us talk to you on this most important subject- - YOUR HuMk. Theodore- Roberta '-ha! a natural groW.Vof beard whin playing in "The Trail of the Lonesome Pine," having taken a two weeks vacation so as to be able 10 look the part as Tolliver. "Human Driftwood," the World feature starring Robert Warwick and Franr-es Nelson, which has been the olject of much attention from the Portland censors, has finally been passed with eliminations and will be screened at the Pickford Theater com nicicir,. tomorrow. This film story of the underworld was condemned by a viewer, then con demned in entirety by the censorship kcard. Finally, after Manager Christ had made a strenuous plea for a re vi twine?, it was irranted and the five- reeler was saved from the official ban ! with the elimination of a number of semes held objectionable. A pig is a pig for a' that which was conclusively proven by an unap preciative porker who filled the Fam ous Players studio with his squeals of protest when Marguerite Clark, alia3 "Molly Make-Believe" a new produc tion on the Paramount program took him in her anns and fed him from a bottle. V Carlyle Blackwell is to play Romeo opposite some well-known .picture ac tress in World Film's production of "Romeo and Juliet' which will be re leased early in June and which, ac cording to reports is to receive its first showing at the big stadium on Amsterdam avenue before 5000 Shak espearean students. And among the important an nouncements coming from William Fox this week are that Pauline Barry says there are only 600 original Strad ivari violins; that Virginia Pearson knows how to bake sweet potatoes; that Ormi Hawley thinks milk is bet tor than gasoline for cleaning pur-' poses, and that Stuart Holmes has made a joke about Villa. The week has heen very full of news. N Motion-picture stars of both sexes are continually receiving proposals of marriage in letters from admirers, but it is doubtful if the note recently received by Clara Kimball Young was ever equaled for brevity and frank ness. It came from a small town in the bustling Middle West and reads: "I'm a good Baptist, but even if you are an actress I am willing to marry ,r, T not SOO n uaaV fl nl COO llV frill ' pspers you get $2000. We could live ! varry comfertible on $2022 a week. If interrcst;d, rite me and I'll send pic ter." . ' H!?rry Revier, consulting director with the Popular Plays Bind Players, a Metro production company, has been in the motion picture business for 18 vears. He worked on the first mo- ! tion pictures ever made, including the Passion flay, and nis lamous A inn to the Moon." whiclf was shown all over the country in the "black tent" era of the film's development.
