Mid-season form was shown by both La Grande and Imbler in the first j;ame of the season on the local dia mond yesterday. The score was five threo with La Grande on the long end. Bell opened for Imbler and Kellum followed him, and there is little to choose from between these two men. On the whole Imbler supported their pitchers well and have the nucleus of a dandy team. La Grande frot nine bits off' the two pitcher.-). Dave Gur Tick, Heck Mclnnis -and Munroe pitched three innings each, the first two each allowing one hit. Garnck passed one, Bell two. The fielding on both sides was pretty good for early season, though La Grande wabbled in the seventh and in eight when Munjroe, a former Tri sbater at Pendleton, allowed three hits, boosted along with, as many errors. "Speed" Mescrve and Woods regis tered some clean fielding. The crowd was exceptionally small, but the brand of ball was worth a real attendance. Pre pare the vegetables ami chop them in to small cubes. Chop the onions and celery extra fine. Mix all of the vegetables together thoroughly and reason to taste. Pack in glass jars or tin cans. Fill with boiling water. Partially seal glass jars. (Cap and tip tin cans.) Process 90 . minutes if ning a hot-water bath outfit; 60 minutes if using a water-seal outfit rr a 5-pound steam-pressure outfit; I5 minutes if using a pressure-cookar cutf it. "War Is Hell!"
