A uniform price of 50 cents has
"been established for the appearance of
the Royal Gwent Welsh singers at
the Metlhodist church tomorrow night.
This group of 20 men are demanding
?1.00 admission everywhere but were
prevailed upon to cut prices here, and
also to allow students a 25-cent ad
mission if taken in a block of 100.
On this plan Rev. Edwards is now
working.

The audience was most cordial in
its applause of the work of the Royal
Gwent Welsh Male Singers at Car
negie Hall last evening. The choir
has a good ensemble and- soloists of

The mellow clarity' of voice and
phenomenal iregister, wWch the sing
ers themselves believe to be the re
sult of climatic environment, gave a
surprising charm to the concert, apart
from and above the musical interest
of the unusual program. Daily

They brought forth numerous en
cores from a large and appreciative
audience. The choruses were well
sung, the shading and volume being
inspiring and fascinating. Several
solos were given in bright, interesting
and dramatic style. The individual
voices are excellent as well as the

Commenting upon performance in
the national capitol city by the Gwent
Welsh Male Singers.
The critic from the "Ppst" wrote:
"A distinct hit was made by the
Gwent Welsh Male Singers at their
two concerts given at the Belasco
theatre yesterday afternoon and even
ing. The company is a full-balanced
body of fourteen singers, with ex
cellent soloists.
Says "The Washington" Herald"
The choir is composed of well trained
voices, all capable of solo -work, and
the program alternated between the
full choir, and solo, duct and quartet
numbers. .
; The criticism was favorabie
throughout and went on to speak of
the fact of their former success at
the White House and their command
performance before King George and
Queen Mary of England at Bucking
ham Palace, by which command they
have been twice honored.
Delile Green, Republican, is being
pressed into the political ring.
Friends are importuning him to be
come a candidate for assessor: on the
Republican ticket at the May primar
ies. Mr. Green has not openly de
clared himself, at least Ihad not early
this afternoon, and ito is not known If
he will but his friends think so.

Commissioner W. J. Townley is In
La Grando today from Union attend
ing the regular session of the county
court. When asked by a reporter for
the Observer if he would be a candi
date for election Mr. Townley said:.
"Yes, I have decided to run. There
are ai number of things in the county
business that I have helped start and
I would like to assist in the finishing
of them, for I believe in the policy of
the present county court implicity.
I believe we will give the county
good roads for reasonable expense,
and that is one of the things that
prompts me to wont to stay with the
job. You may say in the Observer
that 1 will be a candidate for the Re
publican nomination."
Mr. Townley, it will be remembered,
was appointed by Judge J. C. Henry
to fill an unexpired term caused by
the resignation of James Hutchinson
of Union. Mr. Townley has never
.been a candidate for election "until the
present time1,

County Clerk Wuight has received
the announcement from the secretary
of state of the form of the state ballot
for Otoe primary election, May 19.
Union county Republicans, Democrats
and Progressives will vote upon candi
dates for nomination to the following
offices.
