SHOWS STRENGTH AS A RESULT Steady to Strong Is Hog Situation as Week Opens Portlund, March 27. With supplier still unusually limited at North Port land, the market for mutton and lambs is quite naturally of strong character. Only 192 head- put in ap pearance over Sunday, General situation in the swine trade at North Portland in steady to strong. Demand was good at the week's open ing with general sales of tops around $9.30, although extreme quality was quoted even finer at $9.35. i There was a very short run of cat tle in the yards over Sunday at North Portland and a general advance of fully 15c was quoted in the market, although pulp-fed stuff was but 10s higher. At $8.75 for the best of these the market struck a new high irecord for the locakyards. James Henry of Seattle was the buyer of the record lot. There were plenty of cattle buyers in evidence at the '-yards when the market opened, but there was little stuff available. This gave the market very easy advance. FRUIT' 'Bananas 35c and 40c dozen.
