FROM NORTH POWDER Pt-ntinuitinn ..f Nsur $25 000 Si-lllwll ! ' . . House Before Voters North Powder, March 18. (Spec ial ).rA number of North Powder' citizens have suggested the filling of the street that runs past the Lenhart warehouse. It is pointed out that t Wis place has been impassable for au- tos for a long time and that it is al so difficult for travel with teams. Mr. and Mrs. John Lueny, of River- view, are the proud parents of a girl born on March 12, 1916. Born, to Mr. and Mrs, Albert Olsen, a son. Groat interest is centered in- the forthcoming election to vote on the proposal for a $25,000 school house for North Powder. The proposition is favored by all who desire to see North Powder have a school worthy the name of the town. Ray Comstock has rented a farm in the Riverside section and is mov ing onto it. Mr. Comstock comes from Cove where foe has lived for several years. iWe are glad to . wel come the family in this vicinity and hope they will like tho country. . - Mrs Henry Gorham, who has ibeen quite ill, is reported to be much bet ter the past few days. EGGS BY WEIGHT Efforts Being Made To Classify Hen r run "Give me two pounds of eggs, please." That promises soon to be the con ventional way of placing an order for cackleberries, according to Walla Walla County Weight Inspector A. J. Storhow, who says that in some of the large cities the poultry houses are 'endeavoring to mainta n standard by which 'pullet" eggs may be classified aside from the regular "hen" eggs. Where the poultry-fruit is sold by the dozen, it has been pointed out, the purchaser often secures a dozen small eggs, and consequently does not re ceive as much for his money as the person who secures a dozun of the full- sized ones. Wlnle no definite steps have been taken in this state to bring s.bout a classification of eggs of the difFtrent sizes, the trend of events is in that direction, according to Mr. Storhow, and he expresses the opinion that such legislation would not be surpising. There is one difficulty, however, to be met in such a change in the method of selling eggs, and that would be in the establishment of the line of de marketing between "pullet" and "hen" eggs. All of the former brand are not of the same size, nor are' the latter, yet it is pointed out the purchasers of a dozen of the latter receives more value for his money than the person who gets the pullet eggs. There has been no weight standard fixed for poultry products as yet, but in cities where the movement to classi fy has been started, there is a differ ence in the quotations, due to the dif ference in size of the two grades of eggs.
