Basketball honors split two ways lust night when the Union high school boys una Kins lost and won over the La Grande high school boys and Y. M. ('. A. girls. Both frames were lull ol ginger, and gave a fair ly (rood house plenty to watch dur ing the presentation of the double header. The Union girls showed the greater fighting ubilitv against odds. irllmbing from ibcliind in the frit half to a comfortable lent! in the second. The boys from Union were behind throughout the game. Their passing was good but on the whole coulun t hit the basket with accuracy while lucuonuiu and Artcock wore ringing the bell regularly with some long, difficult throws. The game was clean, though hard fought. The out come further muddles the champion ship sheet for Eustern Oregon. Union La Grande nnd Pendleton each hav ing a won and lose between them. The Union girls proved their ver satility by having won over Iji Grande under girls' rules at Union, some time ago, and then switching to boys' rules nnd winning on that stylo of attack. The visiting girls were surer basket throwers but didnr't have ' the home girls beaten any on aggressiveness. On the whole it was a good ovnings sport. The two schools havn't been on basketball speaking 'tennis for a couple of years, but no doubt are firmly reunited again now. There was nothing last night to mar the sport, Referee Peterson living up to his usual standard of efficiency in handling the whistle.
