Two Advances Come in Portland Markets. Portland,' Feb. 29. After dinnor buyers yesterday became more anx ious to secure hogs and bids were rais ed until the top price of last week was reached $8.15. At this figure 75 head wuro sold while 96 others brought $8.10. Sales at $8 and $8.05 were numerous. There were no other ch'anges. . Two advances were made in Jive stock prices at the Portland Union Stock Yards ysterday morning. Pulp fed steers went up 20 cents, while tho rest of the cattle list was unchanged 5 cents, lif tine the market to $8.05 for extra fancy killers. Five thousand of Colonel Daniel Appleton's "child ren" will tender him a farewell ban quet at the 7th Regiment Armory, N. Y. N. G., here tonight. Twenty six years he has served as Colonel of the iregiment, having enlisted, in the guard as a private in 1871. He is re tiring because he has passed the stage limit for the army.
