Bob Smith, of the Grande Rondo Meat company, went to Cove today to look after a car of hogs which he re cently purchased in that section. He has reports that the road form Union is clear and he expects to get the shipment through to La Grande sometime tonight. John M. Gilkinson, former county i recorder, came down from North Pow der this morning to attend to some business matters at the court house. Mrs. Johnny McEwnn left on the noon train for Haines having, been summoned by the serious illness of her sister who lives near that place. I William R. Rathvon, of Denver, will deliver a free Christian Science lecture at the Methodist Episcopal church Tuesday evening. February 8, at 8 o'clock. Mr. Rathvon is a member of i the board of lectureship of the mother church, the First Church of Christian Science, of Boston. The public is cordially invited to attend this lecture.
