j One of the worst freezeups to come
to the attention of La Grande people
was discovered today by George H.
I Currey when he investigated an empty
house belonging to the Barney Huber
estate at 1314 Jackson. The pipe had
bursted. and the kitchen and bath
rooms were half filled with ice. A
srenuine glacier heginnincr at the fau
cet spreads in fanshape to the walls
and at no 'point in the room was ice
less than 18 inches thick, ranging
from that to about three feet.. The
bath room has about two feet Jf, ice

Don Mevers of Imbler has returned
from Portland where he went with a
shipment of cattle and hogs.
The Pythian Sisters will meet Jan
