Of this 2.60 for lowering pipe and $34.60 tor read ing meters and repair work, f; i f i . ' i , The police arrested nine on city and four on state , charges. One was drank; one was disorderly and three were juvenile delinquents. Two cases were pending at the end of the week, served nine meals to city and two to state charges, and had eight sleepers. Received $2.00 for meals for state charges and $25.00 fines. ifiH'. "The street superintendent had a team and driver all week at a cost of $28.50, a white wing at a cost of $15.00 and got 12 days prison labor. He pur chased spikes for $3.95. Many side walk's were repaired and an alley cross walk was built The cross walks east of 4th and south of the rail road were cleaned. Others are being looked after this week. The recorder received $26.00 fines; $231.39 on District No. 99 (First street walk), $38.40 for- cement loaned and not returned; $2.00 for meals for state charges; $23.03 principal and: $1.47 interest on sewer two, section three; He issued a warrant on the park fund for $240.35 on voucher No. 50 for work done to protect the river bank at park. He also issued a warrant for $1272.03 on the Imp. bond interest fund for interest on coupon seven bonds 327 to 359, 361 to 398, 309, 310 319 and 3125, coupon nine on bonds 130 to 145, bond No. 176, and coupon four bond 617.' He issued a warrant on the Imp. - Bond sinking fund for $bu00.UU to redeem bonds 136 to 145 inclusive. , He issued $1479.48 salary warrants; $484.45 :' labor certificate warrants; $32.30 water warrant to State Accident Commission, accident insurance for Nov.. work at the dam, and a warrant to the hospital for $43.93 hospital fees on the same ac count. He also drew a warrant to Oscar Passey in settlement of claim for $56.00 and one on the park fund for $250.00 on voucher 52 contract in stallment on the Chautauqua building and one for $50.00 on voucher 51 to park tender. v The treasurer received $546.70 water rent; $2262.45 Imp. district installment;- $476.71 Imp. districe interest; $2.70 interest sewer 2, section 3; $1.50 for three electrical permits; $60 for one saloon license; $240.35 for the road fund for work done on park; $669.03 taxes from the county treasurer, and $315.46 from the city recorder be ing his .November collections. He paid $608.18 water warrants; $302.45 road warrants; $540.35 park warrants; $141.69 library warrants; $43.42 con tingent warrant $511.01 Imp. district interest; $396.33 North Second street judgment against the city out of engineer's percentage on District No. 67; $150.00 on district No. 99, First street walk, and $5000 for Imp. Bonds Nos. 136 to 145. The city has now paid off 145 street improvement bonds in the sum of $77,433.03. - There' are over $300,000.00 out yet of which the city owns $41, 818.56 in the Beaver Creek Bond Sink ing Fund. ' ' ' It may be well to recall at this time that the outstanding general fund, water and road fund warrants, Jan. I, 1914, was $110,110.36 ana that there are now outstanding only about half that amount. The road and water are on a cash basis. Besides this a num ber of adjustments were made like paying for the street flusher $1100.00 etc. Aside from this the sewer was built to the proposed subway, therim on the water reseivoir above town and the dam at the intake were con structed, also the drain under the walk on First was constructed. All these have been paid' for out of the current water and road funds. ; It has not added to the debts, f the city, k The tax rate next year is no greater than it was in 1913 and 191 while it includes two mills road tax then a county tax and five mills or $18,600.00 for , payment of North Second street paving and general warrants.- . ,If it were not for including these special taxes of 2 mills road and 5 mill Second street, the tax could be down to between 12 to 15 mills. Un less the taxpayers assume additional burdens; there is; a large decrease in city taxes in sight. V The big burden still is the $50,000 to $60,000 general fund warrant debt." It can be paid off in two or three years without becom ing burdensome. . .
