says, and was riding the "train blinds
to save his money, of which he had
a few dollars when hurt. He was
discovered by the brakoman on No.
18 just as the train was leaving tho
station, and was by the brakeman
ordered otf the train. This he obeyed
and it was that act that Mr. Miller
saw.
Local Elks got into communication
with his home lodge last night and
that order has given carte blanch
instructions to the La Grando Elks
to aid in easing conditions for the
young man. ' . '
To John Hannan, O.-W. detective,
Mr. Kief said, it is -reported, he
thought the man quizzing him was
a depot officer trying to get him to
leave town, and he simply bolted to
keep out of trouble."- The roll was a
bundle of blankets which he used to
sleep on when out of doors on his
junket to Baker. K , -
Dr. R. E. L. Holt gave out the fol
lowing statement this afternoon con
cerning the injuries: 1 "The bullet en
tered the back just a little below the
base of the lung, and ranged upward!jl

thus traveling a major portion of the
lung. - The hemorrhage that lasted this
morning is less severe now. There
may be penetrations that have, not
yet developed, and infection mnv soti
