E. church Sunday morning.. A farewell party was given at tne home of A. A. Antles on Friday night in honor of Earl McCallister who will leave for Enterprise Monday morn intr. Memorial exercises were given by the Home Literary club in the Mac cabee hall Saturday night. - Three reels of patriotic pictures were given before the program which consisted of - songs, recitations; j; drills, etc. Everybody enjoyed the evening. - Mrs. Ed Stearns left ; today for Pendleton to visit her mother. Last Saturday morning the Home Literary club decorated the graves of the soldiers and the band played sev eral selections at the cemetery. Many beautiful flowers- decorated the graves of the loved ones. The first four grades of Cove Pub lic school gave a May Day program in the Maccabee hall . Monday after noon. . This urogram had been post poned since May Day on account of the rainv weather. . Mrs. J. Doney of Union is visitinsr at the Sutherland home since Fridav. A ball pnme between Cove and Imbier Sunday resulted in a defeat for Cove. A big crowd attended. Every member of the family will thoroughly enjoy it. . K C Chlckao Pol Pie, Bked Dumpling One fowl cut in joints; cup flour, M teaspoon fill salt; black pepper, 2cups flour, J level teaspoonfuls K C Baking J'owder, tcaspoonful salt; cup shortening; milk or cream. Cover the fowl with boiling water and let simmer nntil tender, then remove to a baking dish. Mix the cup flour, salt and black pepper with cola water to a smooth paste and use to thicken the broth. Remove the fat from the top of the broth if necessary before adding the thickening. Pour this gravy over the fowl, until it is nearly covered, and re serve the rest to serve apart. Silt to gether the flour, baking powder and salt, three times; into this work the shorten ing and use cream or milk to make a dough, less stiff than for biscuits. Put this by spoonfuls over the fowl in the dish, which it should rest upon and completely cover.
