UG0U.1IL DILL COME Interest is being taken by ; La Grande club women in the coming conference and general convention of the council of Federated Women's clubs of the United States in Port land early in June. The purposes of the meeting, who composes the coun cil and various other matters of in terest to La Grande people who in tend to send delegates to the council, are set out in a letter from the of ficial -head of the federation to the Neighborhood club of this city. It says; , ' Walthill, Nebraska,' April 15. The Mid-Biennial Council of the General! Foderation of Women's Clubs v will meet in Portland, Oregon, June 1, 2,1 3, 1916. As stated in Art. V., Sec. 1 1 of the By-Laws the following consti-l tute the members of the Councils "The Board of Directors, Past Presidents of the General Federation, Presidents of ; State Federation, President of Clubs and kindred organisations, Chairmen Departments of Work, Chairmen of Sub-Committees and General State Secretaries.'' All members of the Gene ral Federation are invited to attend -meetings and assist in carrying out the object of the Council which is "to consider and to promote the interests of the General Federition of Woman's Clubs." It is the object of the pro gram committee to make this a gen uine Council with ample opportunity for conferences and discussions Details of the Program will be given in the May number of the General Federation Magazine, i On the evening of May'31st, a recep tion will be given for the visitors in the ball room of the Hotel Multnomah. . Tuesday evening, Dr. William J. Foster, President of Reed College, will speak on the "Spirit of tho North west." Thursday evening, the address will be by Dr. David Starr : Jordan i on "Woman and the Peace Movement."
