Robert Hallgarth in Accident. .
Robert Halleart. a well known
young man of this city, was the victim
of an accident last Friday evening
while enroute to Union that resulted
in the breaking of a bone in his right
foot, with the result that he will be
unable to leave his home for several
days, and will probably be on crutches
for a few weeks,
He, in company with others, were
going to the ball at Union given by
the Horse Show association of that
city. When a short distance this side
of Union, Hallgarth's machine was
plunged over the grade and landed
souarelv on ton of him. It was soon
discovered that his injuries were such
as to demand surgical assistance and
Dr. Whiting was called. The injured
man was taken to Union, where the
fracture was reduced and was brought
home by auto. The broken foot and
minor ibruises are the only injuries.
Members of Federal Jury Return.
W. S. Ezell and John Graham, El
gin citizens who were called to Pendle
ton several Bays ago to serve on the
Federal jury, have returned home
The former returned the. latter part
of last week and the latter came in
Tuesday morning. Only one jury case
was tried, in which an Indian was
convicted of selling liquor on the Uma
tilla reservation.
As soon as 'Mr. Graham was dis
missed he mude a trip to Heppner and
other points of thr.t section on a sight
seeing tour. He states that fall grain
in that section is not to V compared
with the croD of Union Co. In fact
he stated that of all the sections vis
ited, none looked as good as this. He
also visited in Walla Walla with his
son.

Chas. Tamoris, who has been usini

passed along. Both horses became
frightened and. were off like a flash.

tery Association Tuesday afternoon,
a cleanup day was designated, the
date being Tuesday, April 20th.
The officers of the Association look
after the general arrangements and

It is planned to carry on the work
all day and all are expected to pro
