The electrtc siren tire alarm which
was ordered a few weeks ago, ar
rived last week. It will be wired and
tested before any arrangements are
made for installing it permanently,
for if it does not prove satisfactory,
it will be returned. If permanently
installed, there will probably be sev
eral different places in town where an
alarm can be turned In,, if a fire
breaks out.
The Shell Merchandise company's
store has been changed- considerably
during the past week. The stairway
which was in the back part of the
building has been moved to the out
side. A hew door and window have
been put in the east side on Storie
street, and the grocery department
to this part of the store, from the west
side of the building.
The senior class play "The Brook
dale Farm" was presented at the gym-'
nasium, Friday night, before quite a
large crowd. The play was a success
and a neat sum of money was cleared,
which will be used toward paying the
expenses of the gym. ..
A deal was transacted Thursday,
whereby A. M. Smith bought the meat
market belonging to L. W. Minor, and
also the one belonging to J. L.' Max
well. He will vacate the one formerly
owned by Mr. Minor, and will do busi
ness in the other one.
The wet weather during the" past
week has made very little track work
possible. If the weather is still bad
next, week, the class meet may be
postponed until a week later. I
