FREELAND GORDON.
Quite the most remarkable athletic
family in the world at the present
time is found in Yonkers, N. Y.
the Gordons. Willie, Louis, and
Freeland Gordon have been cutti
great capers on the cinderpath of
late. A year ago all were novices,)
dui louay Willie and Louis hold
championships won in national com
petition, and Freeland is conceded to
be ready for the honor, and far away
the most promising runner of tho
three.
It's not a hard task to find three
athletes in one family, but three
brother champions at the middle dis
tance game at the same time is in.
deed a rarity. Jimmy Lee, formor
Boston professional runner, who has
coached the Gordon brothers from the
time they broke their novices, figures
that the three, at their best, would
all finish within five yards in a three-'

will commence about 7:30.
Jan. 12th lias been agreed upon for
the big bowling game with Pendle
ton which will take place on the Club
alleys. Should the home team win
from Pendleton in this match there
will be a game on the Pendleton al

even. This will be one of the season's
big sporting events and should bo

ELECTRIC LIGHTS WERE INVENTED TO SUPPLY
A NECESSITY. ALL OTHER METHODS OF CREAT
ING ARTIFICIAL' light were unsatisfactory. Candles
wer dim and unreliable; gas, dirty and dangerous; kero-,
sent, dull, smoky, odorous and also dangerous to health
and property. When elctric lights were introduced there
was but one drawback. They cost considerably more than
other lights. This objection has been overcome and elec
tric lights are now the most economical as well as the
most satisfactory light.
