What might have easily been a fatal
accident occurred! Thursday at the
Scott Bros, sawmiil on Smith's Moun
tain, when Gerald Herring, the 12-year-old
son of George Herring shot
himself through the leg while hand
ling a 22-calihrr rifle, the hall pass
ing through the leg just lielow the
knee, but. as no hones were broken
the wound is causing but little trouble
' and the boy will soon be about again.
Lester Victor, an old time resilient
of Smith Mountain, arrived at Minam
Thursday ami expects to visit for j
some time wnn relatives and old-time !
friends. Mr. Victor went to Wyom-
ing three years ago where he has j
since held the position of foreman of j
a largo sheep ranch. As he passed j
through Lit Grande he stopped over
several days to visit an oldl friend,
Geo. Campbell, a trainman of that
place.
Bernard Wise and family have just
moved into their new house, which
they erected Inst week on the 80-acrca
of land he bought of Will Dickson last
spring. .
