Prominent Starkey Couple Wedded
Wilh Much Ceremony.
Starkey, July 1. (Special.) A
pleasant home wedding occurred at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Bur
nett on the 28th of June at 11 a. m,
when Ward Smith, formerly of Pilot
Rock, now a resident of the Starkey
district, and Miss Elsa Burnett o
Starkey, were married. A. J. Sulli
van, J. P., officiated. The bride was
dressed in blue taffeta silk and carried
a bouquet of white carnations and
ferns. Among the relatives present,
three generations were represented:
Grandfather Moore, father of Mrs.
Burnett, having ten great grand-children
present. The ceremony was fol
lowed with a splendid dinner, at which
45 plates were set, and enjoyed as
Mrs. Burnett's dinners always are.
Relatives present were: Mr. and Mrs,
Lcuis Huson and their daughters Le-
nora and Crystal, of Tacoma, Wash.;
Mrs. Jessie Griffin and son Elton .of
Ellensburg, Wash.; Mrs. Lee Smith
and daughters Buelah and Jean of
Island City; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Smith
Of Island City; Mr. and Mrs. Obe Bur
nett and family of Palmer Junction,
Mr. and Mrs. Alva Burnett and fam
ily of Starkey, Grandmother Burnett,
Grandfather Moore, Scott Burnett,
Mrs. Kate Burnett, Miss Edith Bur
nett of Pendleton, Masters Bennie,
Warren and Wallace Burnett, and Loss
Burnett, Dick Burnett, and Miss Flos
3ie Burnett. Friends present, were
Ralph Sullivan andl wife, bride and
groom of the 23rd of June; Mr. and
Mrs. A. J. Sullivan, Mr. Tipton of
Kamela, W. Averill of La Grande,
Ernest Schultz of Wisconsin, and Mr.
and Mrs. M. E. Coombs. Many and
useful were the wedding gifts. The
young people will make their home in
La Grande for the present.
Mr. Ralph Sullivan of Starkey, and
Miss Anna McKay of La Grande, were
married June 23 in La Grande, and
are now at home on the homestead.
All join in wishing them a happy and
prosperous life.
