Tuckey of this, city left this morning for Salem, where he is con ducting Ed Howse a"hd Jim Daley, both sentenced to the state peniten tiary. Howse will serve a term of from 2 to 5 years and Daley is sen tenced to from 1 to 7 years. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Galloway and son of Elgin, left this morning for Pendleton, where they will visit friends for a few days. From there thev will eo on to Walla Walla, for a few days stay with frieijds before returning home. Thos. W. Curry, an aged and re spected pioneer of this county re turned to Imblcr this morning aftei a trip to the county seat in the in terest of the coming Pioneer's meet ing which is to take place in Imbler one week from today, namely June 20th. Professor and Mrs. Wilkinson of Meacham, who have been attending the Union stock show and visiting in La Grande for a number of days, re turned to that place this morning. Mr. Wilkinson is principal of Hhe Meacham public schools. E. F. Roberts, wife and children of Cove, left this morning for Walla Walla, where they will attend a fam ily reunion of the Roberts family, The meeting will 1je attended by four sons, many .grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The aged couple have been' married over sixty years. Mr. Roberts is now 82 and Mrs. Rob erts'" is 80. . Mrs. C. F. Johnson of Joseph nneseH thrnnirh the oitv this morn ing enroute to Walla Walla, where she will attend the , graduating ex ercises in Whitman College. Her hrnthur Samuel Amov is eraduatiner from that school 'this year. She was accompanied by Mrs. H. Wilson ol tne same city, who likewise goes to Wal la Walla to attend the commencement exercises. . - A. H. Smith of Crawford, Nebras ka, passed through the city this morning on his way to Imbler to visit at the home of Mr. and 'Mrs. Harry Patterson. Mrs. Patterson is a granddaughter. He states that Nebraska is going to have a record breaking crop of wheat this year, providing the elements do not inter fere.
