Commencing early next week the entries will come in from Seattle, Spokane, Portland, and other bigger cities, as well as from nearby towns. The prospects for entries for track events has nec essitated the La Grande motor club extending the time to two days that the preliminaries may be run off be fore Sunday, the mam day. Horsepower Is Reduced. - With the sanction for the meeting the F. A. M. required the club here to restrict the track events to four h. p. machines rather than seven, there by .reducing the danger to a minimum. It will be a test of machines and not of riding. Well Known Referee to "Boss." G. C. Marks, of Portland, has been employed to referee the meet, and hj comes with the F. A. M. sanction. He will "boss" the entire meet. In both the track and endurance run striped stock alone will be used, and careful rules have been drafted that there may be no misunderstanding, Blaze the Course Sunday. - Tomorrow the La . Grande Motor club will blaze the course to Baker and return. WeatherJ being at all favorable, about two dozen machines will leave the city hall at 10 o'clock and will ride over the course to Baker and return. They will set up signs, secure judges and in ' other ways look after affairs. At Baker they will meet the Baker motor fans who are interested in the sport. Some automobiles will go along to carry signs etc. Everything points to a remarkably successful meet.' and that, it will be the mecca for hundreds of people is believed certain.
