The eastern Oregon district,, comprising six : counties will be represented by dele ! gates for that occasion and a com ' plete program of speeches and ex ercises has already been printed, set ( ting forth the subjects for review and the speaker who will discuss them. W.. C. .Wattenberg, of this city, will open the convention proceedings. His subject is "Hello," to which George Cleaver, of Imbler, will re spond by an address "Hello Your self." These subjects are scheduled for Saturday evening, June 27th, and will be heard at the city park where the delegates will camp if possible. Professor Mathews, of Willamette University,' is on the program for Sunday afternoon, June 28th. His subject has not been announced, but it is certain he will treat, a vital' topic, and one that will be apropos ' to the ideals and purposes of the ' convention and the organization. President Homan of Willamette University is likewise scheduled to attend and address the convention. His speech at the Teachers, conven tion lr.ct year will be remembered as one of the most masterly efforts in oratory heard in this city in many a di.y. For diction and breadth of thought it was easily the product of a most scholarly man and the effect it produced showed that he had given profound attention to the economic and religious needs of the present age. Bible study is to be interspersed with practical talks to young , men and women in all walks of life. iReo rention and pleasure are provided for in an auto trip through the city and surrounding country, trips to the park and luncheons and picnics. Each Chapter in the district is en titled to send to the convention four delegates lor the first fifty mem bers, .or fraction thereof, aside from the pastor, who is an ex-officio dele gate and one member for each ad ditional fifteen members, or major fraction thereof. i . This representation according to the constitution of the League holds good only as to voting. Hence the La Grande chapter extends a hearty invitation to all Epworthians to at tend this convention, and lays par ticular emphasis on the invitation tc ministers and their wives. A registration fee of 25 cents will be charged, to nartinllw defray the expenses of the convention. ' La Grande sportsmen have request ed the fish and game department to transfer the car of Eastern Brook trout, destined originally for this piace, to Wallowa county. This was done for the reason that, the absence o' many autos today necessary for th distribution of the fish in the various streams about the valley, would seri ously handicap their distribution and ptrhaps cause many of them to die. The Union stock show has drawn many autos from the city this morn ing and Jhito conveyance is requisite to a speedy distribution for the life of the fish. The car has not yet ar rived, nor is there any certainty that it is enroll te; but if it does arrive, it will be billed to Wallowa county for the reason mentioned.
