estimated that over. 400 people at
tended the class day exercises at the
high school auditorium ; Wednesday
evening. A large number were un
able to gain admittance. The exer
cises were very good ail the way
through. The Witch of Endir in the

bers of the class. The Witch robed
in her ghostly dress and with her big
kettle hung over the fire and which
she slowly stirred as she called each

Commencement exercise were held
at the M. E. church Friday" evening.
Professor Horner, of O. A. C. de
livered the address. The professor's
talk was largely reminiscent as he
had the honor to organize the first
high school in . Union thirty years
ago. Boys that were in his school at
that time had children in the I9ld
graduation class. The address wan
enjoyed by all who heard it C. J.
torsstrom presented the erariuatA
with their diplomas with a little talk
containing good advice for them as
they go out to meet the world. Thi.
graduating class contained fifteen
members which is said to be the lar
gest class that Union has held since

the first of last weeK for a short
visit with friends and snent a few
days in Baker, returned to his home
in Portland on Saturday. He ex
pects to get back to attend the stock
show.
The stock show boosters reDort a
warm welcome from every place vis
ited by them on their trip to Baker
and other points on last Tuesday. A
greater interest than ever is fbeinsr
manifested and a large crowd will be
present. Some of the boosters had
the misfortune to disable one of the
cars and had to return by the rail
way.
"Uncle" Bill Hutchinson has so ir
recovered from his late sickness that
he has been down town and is get
ting around as well as ever. ,

ated on at the La Grande hospital is
reported as getting around as well
as ever.
The ladies of the Presbvterinn
missionary society met at the home
of Mrs. Law last Friday afternoon,
Mrs. Law and Mrs. Mary Hutchinson
being hostess for that -day. Fifteen
ladies were present and after a short
program was given, refreshments
were served. The society is quite
enthusiastic in the work and the
meetings are well attended.
