PRESENTS NORTH SECOND
STREET CLAIMS.
Remonstrance to Sewer on North
Side Presented Commission. -
Contractor J. L. Mars who did the
.macadam work on North Second
three or four years ago, is trying to
-collect his pay. Ho presented an ite
mized statement to tne city commis
sion last evening, asking for settle
ment. The face value of the improve-
. ment warrants is $11,640,03, and the
interest amounts to about $3,000.
The commissioners took the matter
under advisement. Prolonged letiga
tion brought by property owners on
that street is responsible for the de-
lay in liquidating improvement war
rants. President Wood, Commissioner
Russell and City Attorney John Hod
gin were in attendance at the ses
sion. Remonstrances filed last night
against proposed sewer construction
on the North Side, were referred to
the Friday night meeting when all
interested are to meet.
Petitions for water mains on East
Pennsylvania and on Division street,
' were allowed by resolution.
Bids presented by Adam Kolb for
the construction of cement sidewalks
on N. Street, 'were accepted and a
contract resolution passed. He is to
receive 10 cents per square foot for
the cement.

Some one is careless here. It has cost
the city $25 or $30 for volunteer ser
wce, the chemicals and a couple of
scares. If parents and others insist
on being careless it might be well
to make the ones to blame pay the
costs and expense.
