at Big Gathering Last Night.
' Mother's day was very appropri
ately observed in La Grande last
night when Bome 600 or 600 people
assembled at the L. D. S. church to
listen to a program of music and
verbal . enconiums. The following
program was rendered with a great
deal of enjoyment to the audience.

Moving Picture Show.

a frequenter of moving picture shows,
"there was u scene in one of the films
showing a man and a girl, young lov
ers, kissing. She wns a pretty girl

low, and of courso everybody wus
deeply Interested in the picture. But
at the precise Instunt that the lovers'

ploded with a glguutlc sneeze, where
at the whole bouse blew up wltb spon
taneous bilurlous laughter.
"In this picture scene there was a
third figure, tbnt of a man who bad
seen the lovers meeting and who when
he saw tbem kiss turned away from
tbem to smile. Ho wus, to be sure,
smiling over tbe lovers; but as be look
ed out on tbe house at this moment
witb that smile on his face be Seemed
like a reul man smiling in appreciative
understanding, of what bad Just hap
pened in tbe audience. At tbe sight of
bis smiling fuce the audience again
blew up. But. of course, tbe pictures
kept on moving all tbe time, and in
half a minute tbe audience bad oma
more settled down to look on again at
