A sharp drop In price for most of of the green stuffs is given out this 1 morning by grocers.' Butter is five cents 'ower. than yesterday quotations and nearly all vegetables have come down. This will be good news for the economical housewife. Home grown sass is taking the place of imported stuff. Asparagus il coming in from local growers, or from Wallai Walla, and the price, in consequence is down, owing to less transportation charges. The Florida Dollar variety of strawberries have not yet made their, appearance on the 'local market, and shipments so far have been California berries. ' The quality is constantly getting better and before long will be in reach of most any purse. New potatoes have come down two and a half cents since yesterday and with regular shipments from the coast will continue to come down until every pot will be boiling green beans and new spuds with the proverbial winter ham bone. Portland Indications. Cattle shipments at the Union yards have not been heavy and the price is ruling strong as a conse quence. Sheep have not been many, nor have hog3 and the tendency is for a rise in the market price. Wool is Strong. For some unexplainable reason, wool continues. to show a bearish ten dency to go up, the price being now three cents higher than the price was one year ago at this time.
