Baker where he had a good lecture
and a good demonstration yesterday
and this morning before boarding an
automobile for a ride over the val
ley to Elgin where he delivers' one
of thvee lectures for this county, he
gave an jnterview over his breakfast
table. "Well, I am well" said the
man who 18 years ago 'discovered,'
rather than 'invented', the split road
drag. "We have had splendid meet
ings everywhere; I am going on to
the coast speaking at all the big cities
and the small ones that wani me;
get me a good crowd for the Saturday
afternoon lecture in this city and I
will do the rest."
Thus, one might epitomize his in
terview. Any time an interviewer
gets far from the split log drag topic,
Mr. King gets one back into line
again. Over his grape fruit he out
lined his work for this county. ."I
will not deliver any two similar lec
tures in this valley. Next Saturday
I shall tell in detail how I came to
invent the drag my subject will be
'the hog wallow.' I am much pleased
that you people have nerve enough
to close your stores on Saturdays that
the crowd may be big the demon
stration will follow the lecture."
Inner man satisfied, the man from

ceived boarded County Judge Hen
ry's automobile, and with John Col
lier, vice-president of the commercial
club, went to Elgin for the lecture
and demonstration there today.
Tomorrow he speaks at Union and
the day following comes to La Grande
forjhis lecture and demonstration.
The lecture will be delivered at the
L. D. S. church and the demonstra
tion to follow will be in the heart of
the city.
The lecture begins at 1:30.
