KING, THE ROAD DRAG MAN.
The coming of King, the road drag
men, to La Grande and other points
in Union County, is one of the very
best things that could happen at this
time when good roads are a subject
of earnest discussion in most parts of
the state. .
The King road drag is the econ
omical implement with which to make
good highways. This part of Oregon
i not thickly enough settled to enter
tain for a moment the hardsurface
country highway. It is all and more
than some cities can afford, to say
nothing of the miles of road necessary
in the valley.
Those who are advocates of hard
surface highways should not condemn
the King road drag method before
they know exactly what it will do, and
the best way to learn about this is to
attend the King lectures and see his
demonstration of the work he is
capable of doing with the little three
concerned drag. And what Mr. King
can. do, any one can do. There is o
patent devices or expensive parts of
the King road drag. It is a practical
little implement for everyone to use.
After all, to make a good road
means to have good drainage, proper
grading and to prevent holes from
forming in the highways where
moisture can collect.
The Grande Ronde valley can have
first rate highways by using the
drag, and it ' takes no bond issue,
either.
' The northwest will not have the
Frisco fair tourists unless those tour
ists want to put up the extra cost of
a ticket according to railroad and
steamship men. After all, there is a
good deal of equity and justice in
their position on the matter.
