Trull of Elgin, the new owner It is understood there will be no change in the policy of this thea ter and the programs for the future will carry the same contract films which the ladies have worked hard to obtain. s Mrs. Murphy and Mrs. Swaney will retire from the theater business and ' in doing so they leave the best of feeling between the public generally and the thjater they have so ably conducted. The personal interest ' they have taken in the welfare of every patron, whether that patron ! Uprl root) MCf was a youngster whose admission was free, or an adult with a theater par ty, has won for them tf place in the hearts of the show going people of La Grande. "We feel a regret now the time has come to sever our connection with the theater," was the way the ladies spoke today to the 'Observer reporter. "Our association with the shoWgoers here has been the moat pleasant im aginable. We have found that our every effort to give good service has been appreciated, not only by patron age but by word of mouth and $ie large throng of people who visit this theater are our friends. We wish to extend our deepest thanks for the patronage ve have received and now that the curtain is being pulled and the orchestra is playing the 'quitter' on our theater-owning career we, like the curtain talker, wish to say a fond, 'Good night and Good bye.' " GOD'S LOVE LAUDED. Revelation of God Greatest on the Cross says Speaker. . Rev. Close, pastor of the Baptist church, was the speaker at the noon day Lenten services today. His ad dress was an interesting and inspir ing discourse on "The revelation of leve of God on the Cross." He said that " it was always accepted that God was wise and powerful but that his chief and foremost attribute was love, and this was revealed chiefly on the cross."
