struction company, was in the city

through the city this morning en-
route. to Joseph on a business trip.
Mrs. R. Frazler and children, of El
gin, were in the county seat on busi
ness. They returned today.
Mrs. Kennedy of Elgin, was among
the passengers to that city this morn
ing. H. A. Bodmcr of the firm of Bol
ton & Bodner, was an outbound pas
senger on the branch line this morn
ing. . . Miss Elizabeth Wells who is attend
ing the high, school in La Grande, left
this morning to spend the week end
with her parents at Imbler.
A. H. Harron, traveling salesman
for Fleisher Mayer & Co., left this
morning for branch line points in the
interest of the dry goods business.
.Attorney J. W. Biggs, of Burns, was
in the city yesterday on legal busi
ness. He was registered at the Som
imer. Clint Van Fleet of the Golden Rule
company, left this morning for How
ard Creek in the interest of the com
pany. S. W. Lilly of Wallace, who has been
in Anaconda working in the smelter
at that place, returned to his home
this morning.
Mr. and Mrs. David Scott of Minam
passed through the city this mornine
on their way home. They have been
visiting with relatives in North Pow
der and with Mr. and Mrs. J. J.
Witty near La Grande. They were
accompanied by their children Lena
and Eunice. ' '
R. F. Bailey of Richfield, Idaho,
stopped off in the city to inspect busi
ness conditions here. He is surprised
fo notice so much activity, and is full
of praise for the beauties of the val
ley. He goes from here to Payette
before returning home.
Ellsworth Ellis left for Elgin this

E. B. Morelock of Elgin, returned
to his home citv this morning after
accompanying Mrs. Morelock to La
Grande where she took passage for
Portland and Willamette Valley points.
During her stay there she will be the
guest of her brother, J. K. P. Harris of
Independence. Mr. Morelock spent
most of the winter in that section of
the state and returned to allow his
wife to enjoy a similar privelege.
