Appended are excerpts from the
Oregon iwater law which provide
method and steps necessary to be
followed out by the proposed organi
zations to drain and dredge various
portions of Union county this year:
Whenever 25 percent of the owners
of land susceptible of drainage de
sires to drain for the public benefit
the objections to the same at a sub
sequent term to be fixed by its order,
and of which notice shall be given by
board in the county court house and
in such other manner as the court
may prescribe. After such assess
ments have been reviewed and equal
ized by the court, if it shall find that
the same are just and that the amount
produced will be sufficient to carry out
the proposed system of drainage, the
court may order direct that such as
sessment be paid by installments.
If the original assessment is in
sufficient to provide for the complete
drainage of the land, or if further
assessments are from time to time
required to provide fof the protection,
maintenance, and repairs of the' works.

the construction, maintenance, and op
eration of the drainage system. Such
by-laws shall not be operative until
they are approved by the county court,
which approval shall be noted and a
copy thereof to be kept on the files
by the county clerk, and the court

of the land owners of the district at
a meeting called upon such reasonable
notice as may be prescribed in such
by-laws.

the county, and such viewers must
view the lands situated in the dis
trict and make upon such lands an
assessment of the benefits which mny

ment shall be reported to the county
