Deep Snow Far Up Canyon Coming Down as Water This Week. Ladd Canyon, Oreg., March 10. (Special.) Judging from all appear ances spring undoubtedly must be with us once again as all the early return ing birds such as the robin and blue bird are here and the frogs are hold ing their never ending "concerts" in the meadows the past few evenings. Ladd creek is keeping the farmers ever on the lookout as the vast amount of snow far up in the canyon is J melting and coming down, causing it to overflow in places. Mrs. John Peebler, widow of the late, John J. Peebler, of La Grande, and her daughter, Mrs. Ollie Kelley, form erly Mrs. John Green, of EmWtt, Ida., visited a few days last week at the homes of their respective sons and brothers, Messrs. Dick, Henry and Adolph Peebler. Mrs. Kelley former ly resided here and the pleasure ivisit which she and her husband anticipat ed was deeply darkened by the death of her father on the following day of their arrival from Emmett. The Misses Irene Mulholland and Ruth Peebler attended a dance in La Grande Saturday evening. They made the trip on horse back. Edward Graham, who with his moth-1 er, nas resided in La. uranoe tne past year, where they moved from their, ranch out here, visited here from Fri day evening until Monday morning with Henry and Frank Counsell. Mrs. W. B. Campbell, of La Grande,, who has been spending the winter in Portland, has been visiting since her arrival with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and (Mrs. Brooks Campbell, where they reside over on the foot hill, out from La Grande.
