A good many here were disappoint ed at being unable to attend the fun eral of the late John J. Peebler, yes terday on account of the bad storm and the condition of the roads. The news of his death was a shock to this neighborhood as he resided here for many years and up until the time he I removed to La Grande to retire from active business life. He has three sons residing here and they and "Grandma" Peebler have the sympa thy of the entile neighborhood in their sad hour. The puipls of the Ladd Canyon school rendered a very nice program last Friday afternoon In honor of Washington and Lincoln under the auspices of the teacher, Mr. Hunt The recitations, dialogues and songs were much enjoyed by the parents and friends who assembled to hear them. Mr. and Mrs. James Mulholl vis ited over night Saturday in La Grande with relatives.
