While insanity is much more pre valent in the east than in the west and south in proportion to1 population the federal canvass shows it is in creasing in the country at large fas ter than population. While there has been a reaction against the "fast American pace" in some quarters, and many people are "slowing down," still it is a fact that we as a nation give too much time to the worries of making money and the diversory excesses that go with it and not enough to a consistent, nor mal enjoyment of life. If we did there would be less insanity and a tremendous decrease In the prematurely-aged population trying to re build shattered constitutions at health resorts and sanitariums. CRICKET FLAT ITEMS. Dora Gekler is again able to be out. A very enjoyable evening wai spent at the home of Chas. Gray last Fri day when a number of the neighbors treated them to a surprise. Rev. (Special)- f Seven dogs and four cats were the sum total of the dog catchers' ef forts yesterday, all the animals be ing killed by the poundrr.aster and his helpers. The cats were killed on, ! me request or the owners, not through fear that they were infect ed, but because the owners wanted to get rid of them. Of the unmuzzled canines killed yesterday only one gave signs of rabies. The animal appeared all the symptoms of the disease.' The head will be preserved so that it may be examined by Dr. Notz on his return today, and pofsibly sent to the state bacteriologist Last night only two dogs remained in the pound, all those captured hav ing either been killed or called for by the owners.
