Baker, Jan. 30. (Speifaf.) Doro thy Jane Richardson, five year old daughter of Mrs. Lillie.T. Richard son, died this morning at the home of her grandfather, J. C. TraviUion at North Powder, after an illness of two weeks with typhoid fever. The beau tiful little child and her sister, Ruth Richardson, who is six years old, were stricken at about the same time. Word from North Powder this morn ing was that Ruth is also1 in a criti cal condition, and but little hope is held out for the little one's recovery. She is also suffering from typhoid fever. The funeral will be held from Welch ! Company's . funeral parlors, here i today at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. E. P. Waltz conducting the services. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN hat the assessment fon the improvement of Second street, being improvement district No. 63 of the city of La Grande, Oregon, under the provisions of Ordinance No. 763, Series 1914. An ordinance declaring the cost of im proving Second : street with gravel bitulithic hard surface pavement from the north property, line of : Spring Avenue to the snath line of the cul vert extending; ever the irrigation ditch or canal: crossing Second street through lot 3 ia block 18 and lot 4 in block 5, Gfasdy's addition to 8 id city; determining the property bene fitted thereby, levying an assessment thereon to defray the costs and ex penses of said improvement; provid ing for an assessment roll of the same and directing the entry of such as sessment roll in the docket of city liens; providing a time when the same shall become delinquent and re quiring the city recorder to prepare at special assessment roll in accordance with the assessment levied herein, and to collect such assessment, the same being improvement district No. 53 in said city of La Grande, Oregon, is now in my hands for collection .and the same may he paid to me at any time within (10) ten days from the 26th day of January, 1914, without penalty, interest or cost; and eaoli property owner Is hereby notified that on application to the - undersigned within (10) ten days from" the 26th day of January, 1914, which is the first date of the publication of this notice, they will be allowed to pay such assessment in (10) ten annual installments, the first installment thereof being due and payable on or before the 8th day of January, 1915.
