The gale was the strongest any resident had experienced in this section of the country. Some other damage was done to property including barns, woodsheds ai.d some old frame dwellings. There were no fatalities. Unless the roof is repaired on short notice the rains will do considerable damage to the building. It is under stood plans have been laid to this end and work will begin at once. Wright of Portland, sec retary of the Baptist denomination, and J. H. Wherry, colporteur, for Oregon were in the city, and held ' a meeting at the Baptist church in the interest of development work.
