Mt Glen, Or., Jan 20.Specia:.)- A most delightful farewell social was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Whiting when old friends amd relatives gathered to do honor and bid farewell to Mrs. Erma Hendricks, who leaves next Wednesday for her .home in McLeod, Canada. Mre, Hendricks has been visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Perry of La Grande, for .some time. She was formerly of this sec tion where she made many friends, who regret her departure. The even ing was spent m relating old time happenings and changes that have taken place in the. past ten years. Many .beautiful piano selections were songs and recitations. At ten o'clock biir being laid for 30 people, ent were: Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Perry of La Grande, Mrs. Hendrickson of Canada, Geo. W. L. Whiting, A. R. Hunter has his new barn practically finished. N. M. Feik moved into his new house-the fore part of the week. Class championship in basketball was fought .to a finish last night af- ter school between the Seniors and Juniors, the Juniors winning by a score of 83 to 27. Forward Melvin Larson for the Juniors and John Schofield for the Seniors tied for the highest individual score each throw. ing 6 field baskets and 2 fouls. Al though the final score was not pleas ing to many of the spectators espec tally the Seniors,' there was no ill feeling shown and each player re ceived a hearty applause for the ex cellent way in which they - played.
