Grande library by the citirens of La
Grande. Following is an exhaustive
report of the library development,
financial affairs and total number of
books on, hand, the report being the
official annual summary of the libra
ry affairs submitted to the city com
missioners, to whom the report is
addressed,, with a prelude by the li

I herewith submit to you the en
closed statistical report of the work
of the La Grande Public Library for
the year ending December lt, 1913.
This is the first full, yearly report
of the library; it having been opened
to the public July 15th, 1912, under
tne ame cnarge oi miss w- l. tjoweii,
a trained librarian amd graduate of
Pratt Institute Library school. On
June 14th, 1913, Miss Cowell resigned,
to be married ,and since July 1st,' 1913
the library has been in charge - of
Jacqueline Noel, also a graduate of
P.att Institute Library school.
The library will soon enter into a
new period of its existence in the
handsome building provided for it
through the generosity of Mr. An
drew Carnegie. In its own building,
it hopes to serve the people of La
Grande even better than it has been
able to in the past.
