Hemlock and children, Emil and Baby Jesse of Elgin were in La Grande the guests of Mr. and Mrs. O. I). Scott. Mrs. P. Lnutaret and baby passed through the county seat on their way to Joseph, where they intend to reside in the future, Ray Logan and Howard Davis re turned yesterday from The Dalles, at which pluce they attended the funeral of Dr. Logan, who died recently of pneumonia. O. A. Stoop of Elgin, who made a business trip to Portland the fore part of the week, returned last night and left on the branch this morning lor his home. . Mrs. M. V. Witty arrived in the city last nieht on her way to Elgin. She has been a resident of the Oregon me tropolis but intends to make blgin her future home. - Mr. and Mrs. A. Henning, connected with the Home Telephone company, went to Flora this morning to install a switch board at that place. He will be gone three or four days. Mr. and Mrs. T. Cox, of Carney, Neb., were in LaGrandethe guests of D.-Calvert They left this morning for Portland, where they will visit for some time before returning to their home in Carney. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Sommers, of El gin, were in the city to attend the par ay given by Mrs. O'Connell at Honan hall yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Som mers returned on the train and Mr. Sommers returned in his auto.
