Elgin is agreeable to every one. The
farmers are in town-with .loads of
apples and potatoes, while the ground
is still white, with frost, and continue
to visH oar town until late in the even
ing, because the apple and potato sea
son is now on in full awing. v
The Enterprise football boys; visit-1
ed our town Friday and Saturday. The
game, Enterprise vs. Elgin Saturdajr
was one ofxtremg, interesj5.r Chir
boys put up a plucky fight but were
defeated by a score of 81 to 0. Under
the supervision of Coach Kronenberg
we' hope to win, and hold .our own
standing in the future. ; A threatre
party was arranged for the football
boys, Saturday night by the students
of E. H. S., but due to more attrac
tive amusements, it was gven up.
La Grande played football at Wal
lowa Saturday, but were defeated. As
they passed thru Elgin Sunday even
ing they jumped to the platform and
gave several hearty high school yells,
that proved, the defeat did not thaw
their enthusiasm. .
The Elgin boys play Wallowa next
Saturday at Wallowa. V
The "Burns" literary program was
a great success last-Friday. It was
short but right to the point. The
Eutopians are, now busy preparing
their program, to be given next Fri
day in the assembly hall at 2:30, to
which every one is invited,
Miss Marcia Becker was a visitor
in Elgin Saturday. She also attended
the ball game.
Clef ton Wagoner was transacting
business in this city the fore part of
the week.
Don Sargent spent Sunday with
friends in this city.
Mrs. Frank Bruce, of Enterprise,
