Since her appointment to the office
of couniy superintendent of schools,
Mrs. F. S. Ivanhoe has visited nearly
one-third of the county's schools. In
an interview this afternoon Mrs. Ivan

"I have visited a goodly number of ,
the schools and find all of them do

the schools is due to the efficient
work of my predecessor and the un
tiring efforts of the teachers to put
the schools on a high plane. Of course
there are some places where things

thing eminently constructive. It is
a noble occupation and one worthy of
the best energy.
"The pupils evince a great deal of
eagerness to perform the tasks as
signed to them and I am sure such an
attitude on their part cannot but be
productive of a great deal of good.
The teachers are full of energy and .
have taken hold of the task with a
determination and a willingness to
make the schools the pride of the
state. I am highly pleased with the

Home From Cornucopia.
G. W. Lingreen, former, deputy
sheriff and well known Union county
pioneer resident, returned to his home
in Elgin the latter part of last week
after an absence of several months at
the Cornucopia mines, where he and
his associates performed extensive de
velopment work on a chain of claims.
The mine that Lindgreen and his part
ners have been working for a number
of years never showed better ore than
during this season and the assays
show a decidedly high value. In fact
Mr. Lindgreen was never more opti
mistic as to the outcome than at the'
present and work will be resumed just
as soon as the weather permits. The
company was forced to cease opera
tions as a result of the early fall of
snow. ." ..
