Brooke of Joseph, was brought to the
Wallowa hospital Monday morning,

was feared that he had appendicitis,
tut this trouble disappeared and since
that time he enjoyed reasonably gooo.

may be that this had something to do
in bringing on his future trouble. .

medical attention was given mm. ne
gradually grew worse, until Monday
morning, when it was decided to lane
him to the hospital in Wallowa for an
operation. Mrs. F. D. McCullv took
the sick boy and his parents to Wal
lowa in her.auto, arriving there about
noon. Dr. Gregory of the hospital, de
cided that the boy was too weak to
stand an operation at that time, and
honed that within a couple of days he
might be strong enough to undergo the
ordeal. He failed to rally, and died
Monday evening at 9:45.
Lorraine 0. Brooke was born in
Barton county, Mo., February 19,
1898. and died Oct. 13. 1913, at the
age of 15 years, 7 months and 28 days.
He was an unusually blight and cneer
ful boy and idolized by his parents,
brother Arville and sister Mina, who
are heartbroken over their terrible
misfortune.
