PORTLAND OREGON BULLDOGS BRANCH LINE CONDUCTOR HAS SOMETHING NEW. In Baggage Car Veteran Conductor Wrestles With SOO-Pound Hog, , Wallowa, Sept 13. The Sun eays: Bulldogging a steer has become an art, or a science, or whatever it is, known everywhere and practiced by men and women all over the country. No one ever heard of anybody trying to bull do a horse, or a mule or a sheen. but it has been reported by very good 1 authority that an attempt has been made to bulldog' a hog,' one of the three hundred pound variety, and that the attempt was quite successful. The person attempting this hazardous feat was no other than Harry Grady,' the popular passenger conductor on 'the branch line.. Whether or not the ven erable Mr. Grady was practicing for the Round-Up is not known, he hav ing not confided any such intentions to his friends, but the circumstances in the case point very much that way. One morning this week just after the incoming passenger train pulled out of Palmer junction, the popular con ductor went into the baggage ear where there was a hog weighing close tn three hundred pounds, contained in a crate. Just how Mr. Hog obtained his freedom is not known, but it is certain that he came charging down the car, and everybody in the car took the shortest cut to the roof. 'That is, everybody except the conductor. ' He took la flying leap' for Mr. Hog" and when he got through with him, the porker was glad to retire to his mod est crate. i Friends of Mr. Grady have been con gratulating him all week over - the success of his difficult . undertaking. Just whether he will enter in the Round-Up could not be learned, but should he do so, his friends predict he will carry away some priie money.'
