" ' .' . Judging from the large birth record of this valley for the past year and the large number of entries last fall. La Grande should produce some ba bies that will rival those who now hold the state score for the highest degrees of physical perfection, and the fair authorities will soon be making preparations for the greatest baby show in the history of La Grande, the baby show where looks and pretty smiles don't count, but where the baby will stand upon the quality of physical tests it nasses. Following are notes taken from the woman's Home Companion, score card which will be usfid by the judges in the contest fro"mwhich one can gain some idea of what is required in the per fect baby: ; Table of tSandards. Th infant of six months- must weigh 17 pounds to be normal, be 27 inches Jail, measure 17 inches about the chest, the head and abdomen, be of five-inch lateral diameter of the chest, iU, inches from front to back, have an arm of 10 inches and a 10-inch leg. At the age of nine months, these figures should be 19, 28, 18, o or cnesi, vt riioat to back 11 inch arms and legs. At the age of a year, the weight is 153-4, At 36 months, the weight is 32, the height 36 cir. of. head 20, cir, of chest 21, of abdomen the same as the head, lat. dia. of chest 6 1-4, chest to back 5 length of arm 15, length of leg 16.
