Mrs. August Hug, of La Grande, is
spending a few days with relatives
and friends near Summerville.'
Tillie Hug was in La Grande over
Sunday; Miss Earline Walker
turned to Summerville with her, where
she will visit until the week's end.
. It is almost time for the opening of
school. Prof. Thomson will resume his
old duties as principal of the Summer-,
ville school. . Miss Pearl Parks is the
teacher of grades. . Miss Gust will
teach at Dry Creek this winter .
Frank McKinnis returned home on
Monday from Eugene and Portland.
Mr. McKinnis is afflicted with asth
ma, and went away with the hope of
relief. So far he feels much better.

are spending a few days with their
sister, Mrs.. M. D. Sanderson.

the death of Conrad Neiderer's baby.
It was only a few weeks old, and hav
ing suffered all the time and we feel
that the little one can rest now. We
extend our sincerest sympathy to the
parents of the child, in their bereave

the young clerk as he left the war of
fice to go out for his lunch. When
the hat was worn rakishly on one side,
the reporters would return to their of
fices and write fiery stories of victor
ies that had come to the Servian arms.

Grande Ronde river near Palmer mill
and one over Catherine creek in the

m. of Saturday, the 23rd day of Aug
