The third weekly union service of many of the churches of the city that Is giving the ministers of La Grande a needed rest in that it requires of none save one tomorrow more than one sermon will be held at the Methist church - tomorrow evening. Dr. A. G. Lane, pastor of the Presbyterian church will deliver the sermon. The young people's societies of the four churches interested will also hold a union meeting and Miss Rosa Sherman will be the leader. This department, too, meets at the Methodist church. Mrs. E. B. Conklin and daughter Mildred, returned to their home in On tario Monday after spending a week visiting relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bell returned from Walla Walla Friday, where Mr, Bell successfully underwent an oper ation for appendicitis several weeks a8- The Houx family held their annua! reunion last Sunday' at the home of T. J. Ryan. Class No. 5 of the Methodist Sun day school went on a picnic last Sun day, going about four miles south east of town. L. D. Sutherland took his little daughter Alice, to La Grande Friday for an operation for adenoids. She i; getting along all right. Judd Geer made a business trip to La Grande Friday. Eva Neely of Vale who has been visiting relatives here for several weeks went to La Grande Monday where she will visit some time before returning home. Mrs. Blaine Geer of Walla Walla who is visiting in the Cove, made a business trip to La Grande Friday. Elsa Brawner returned to her home in Nebraska Wednesday. She will come back here when school re-opens in the fall, as she is one of the corps of teachers. Miss Godfrey of Portland, is visit ing at the home of her college chum. Mable Lantz. Mr. and Mrs. I. E.' Houx were in La Grande Friday on business. Lucy Comstock and May Stearns were in La Grande Monday. Mrs. Virginia Kyles of Boston Mass., is visiting, at the home of her nieces. Helen and -Eunice Ramsdell. L. D. Sutherland has taken up his H'uies again as rural mail carrier af ter a vacation of two weeks during which time C. H. Powell acted in hin place. (Special) Real estate has been steadily on the move Hie part week, two ranches be ing sold in the course of a few days. The deals being made by L. Couch the real estate dealer. The Thomas Dryden ranch consist ing of 490 acres, was sold to John Couch. This is considered one of the best stock and grain ranches in the valley, and is situated eight miles' from Wallowa. The consideration be ing $21.00 per acre. Mr. Dryden. who hai; been a resident of this county for many years. leaves soon for his new home ,at Frcewater B. F. Gaston has purchased the Hans Liirscn place, three miles east of town. Mr. Larsen intends returning to NeBfaska. Sneriff fcklgar Marvin, of Enter prise, and Edwin Marvin and B. M. Rounsavell, of Wallowa, returned on Tuesday from an automobile trip into southern Idaho. Harry Swaits, train dispatcher al T.a Givndc, came over Wednesday in his automobile for a few days' visit with his sister, Mrs. J. S. Mason. She will return with him to La Grande Sunday and from there they will go to Pendleton for a short visit with rela tives. Peter Beaudoin and E. O. Makin, of Kntetprise, wore in Wallowa Wednes day.
