Secretary Franklin Lane Coming to I i Pendleton August 20 . Pendleton, 'Aug. 1. Hon. Franklin Jf. Lane, secretary of the interior is ot going to pass Pendleton by with out a visit on his present western trip He and his party will arrive in Pendleton on August 20, according to advices received here today. He will pay a visit to the Umatilla project at Hermiston and will come on to Pen dleton and make a trip to the agency. He will also probably Investigate the proposed project north of this city. .. President J. V. Tallman, upon re ceipt of the knowledge, immediately began arrangementss for the secre tary's reception. Though he will not foe here himself, he has appointed a committee to look after the enter tainment of the distinguished citizen. Co?. J.
